Our Fleet
Our fleet reflects our sailing philosophy. Keep it real, keep it fun, and choose boats that make great sailors.
Stumptown Viking
Ericson 23 MKII Training Vessel
Stumptown Viking is our salty little warrior. She is a 23 foot Bruce King designed sloop from the golden era of American sailboat building. Light on drama and heavy on capability, this classic Ericson 23 MKII is the perfect boat to learn the art of sailing. She is forgiving, responsive, and lively which makes her fantastic for hands on lessons.
Sailing Magazine once wrote that "Ericson was part of the vanguard, one of the early fiberglass builders that helped shape the course of the American sailboat industry." Renowned sailor and author John Kretschmer described the Ericson line as "stylish, good performers, well built, expensive and designed by Bruce King." He called Ericson’s Viking helmet insignia "a symbol of quality" and we agree. That proud Viking still lives on Stumptown Viking’s hull today.
The Ericson 23 MKII has a beefy mast, strong construction, and a smart sail plan of about 240 square feet. She weighs 3,200 pounds which gives her a confident, stable feel on the water without feeling sluggish. With her tiller steering and long cockpit, she is ideal for coaching because everything is within reach. New sailors love how quickly she responds to sail trim and helm input because you can feel the boat come alive.
Down below you will find a charming vintage interior. Think classic wood trim, compact simplicity, and a cozy vibe for snacks or shelter between tacks. She is a real sailor’s boat. No gimmicks. No pretense. Just pure learning and adventure.
