A first time sailing experience

This is perfect for anyone who has always been curious about sailing but has never had the chance to try it. This relaxed, three hour outing is designed to show you what sailing feels like in a fun and comfortable way. There is no classroom portion and no pressure. You can participate as much or as little as you like.

She is stable, comfortable, and ideal for first time sailors.

What to expect

We board our Ericson 23 sailboat, and depart from Tomahawk Bay Marina on Hayden Island and sail up the Columbia River toward Buoy 14 and back.

During the sail you will:

• Learn how a sailboat uses wind to move

• Try steering the boat at the helm if you want to

• Learn simple sailing terms

• Help trim the sails or relax and enjoy the view

• Experience the quiet and calm of traveling by wind
